Common Questions
Our commitment to not compromise on screening procedures, our professionalism, our ability to listen and respond to our nannies and families and our availability is the best around. From the feedback we get from clients and candidates, they say that we are the most responsive, caring agency with whom they have ever worked. We are there to answer the phone and offer the best selection of well-screened candidates and families. |
The candidates represented by our firm must have long term professional experience and references in their related field. Our candidate pool consists of a wonderful variety of ages, ethnic and educational backgrounds and experience levels. This diversity allows us to offer you a wide range of profiles to match your unique needs. The candidates represented by our Agency must also have authorization to work legally in the US, and can range from ages 18 – 65 years old. We have screened our candidates for maturity and for those who understand the seriousness of this responsibility. |
Our process is in five phases. First, we screen the candidate over the telephone to qualify them for an interview. Then we schedule an in-depth, in-person interview. Thirdly, the candidate completes a comprehensive 5-page application form, which includes references, work history, and health inventory. We check the references which are comprised of detailed conversations with previous employers as well as verification of education and all other types of employment. Lastly, we pay a Private Investigation Firm to do an extensive background screening that includes civil, criminal, workers compensation, DMV and Social Security check. For childcare professionals, we also request CPR certification and a TB test. |
In addition to salary, the candidate gets room and board if she/he lives-in with the family. Typically, families offer two weeks paid vacation and paid major holidays. For live-in childcare use of a car during the candidate’s time off and a private telephone line are generally offered. More and more families offer health insurance. |
We have a Domestic Tax Service in which we can refer you. Additionally, you will need to discuss this subject with your accountant or financial advisor. Please ask us directly and we will give you all the appropriate insights and information necessary. |
We screen our candidates for those who can give a minimum of a one-year commitment. We need to see in their background that they are stable enough to keep a commitment. Since the candidate is your employee, you are welcome to have a contract with her/him if that would make you feel more comfortable. We give a 5 month guarantee. That means if the candidate leaves within the 5 months for any reason, we will work in good faith to replace the candidate. |
Typically, we like to say leave 3 to 6 weeks from start to finish. We have made placements in one day and there have been times that it takes two months. We will not compromise our screening quality. A lot also depends on how quickly you are able to work with us. If you return our calls promptly and are available to meet with potential candidates easily, time is compressed. If you wait several days to return our calls or be in contact with a candidate, it draws out the process. The important piece we emphasize is to hire the right candidate. Many of our clients find what they want in the first few candidates they interview. |
Our clients and nannies volunteer readily to talk to new clients and nannies. After a nanny begins her job, we do follow-up, a report card of sorts. We ask questions about our service and how we performed. We receive “rave reviews” and almost everyone says they will be available as a reference. Simply ask for a few names and numbers of people to call. |
